ZENSUGAR / CURRENT APPLICATION

Glucose data that stays with you.

ZenSugarX is the current iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch application in the ZenSugar product line — built from the xDrip foundation and extended around compatible CGM data, AiDEX workflows, Nightscout Follower mode, resilient history and glanceable Apple surfaces.

ZenSugar is the product family. ZenSugarX is the current xDrip-based iOS/watchOS application. This URL stays stable as the product family evolves.

Two data paths. One continuous timeline.

Choose the source that matches the real workflow. ZenSugarX keeps the display, history and Apple surfaces centered on the same glucose timeline.

01DIRECT

AiDEX sensor

Compatible-sensor workflow on the iPhone.

ZenSugarX supports direct AiDEX-family data collection, calibration-aware processing, reconnect handling and sensor-history recovery so short connection interruptions do not have to become permanent holes.

  • Bluetooth collection
  • History backfill
  • Calibration-aware processing
  • Gap-aware storage
02FOLLOWER

Nightscout Follower

Follow an existing Nightscout timeline.

Follower mode pulls configured Nightscout glucose history into the same local model, including historical backfill and source-transition protection designed to preserve continuity instead of silently dropping older readings.

  • Nightscout synchronization
  • Deep historical backfill
  • Source-boundary protection
  • Deterministic de-duplication

Built around the part that matters: no mystery gaps.

Glucose history is only useful when the application can explain where each point came from and recover data that arrived late.

01

Minute-by-minute history

Local storage keeps the timeline available to the app even when the network or sensor link is temporarily unavailable.

02

Backfill, not guesswork

Historical reads are imported as history. Existing authoritative points are preserved instead of being blindly overwritten.

03

Source-aware transitions

Switching between direct and Follower workflows is treated as a source transition with explicit boundaries and overlap rules.

04

One reading, many surfaces

The same current state feeds the iPhone, Apple Watch, complications and supported lock-screen surfaces.

The reading where you actually look.

ZenSugarX is designed to keep the latest state glanceable without turning every check into a trip through the full application.

IP

iPhone & iPad

Current glucose, trend, history, treatments, statistics, alarms and settings in the primary application.

W

Apple Watch

A companion Watch app plus complications for a quick reading directly on the wrist.

LA

Lock Screen

Widgets and Live Activity surfaces are designed for fast glanceability, with freshness made explicit when data stops moving.

Nightscout delivery — without an external heartbeat device.

For Follower mode, the App Store architecture is moving toward server-delivered ActivityKit updates: Nightscout emits a new reading, a minimal secure relay prepares the Live Activity state, and Apple Push Notification service delivers it directly to ActivityKit.

Architecture in preparation for the App Store build. The current installed build still uses the existing Follower background behavior until this path is fully integrated and verified.

Local first. Remote only when you choose it.

Core application data is stored on the device. Nightscout, Apple Health and future server-delivered Live Activity features are opt-in integrations driven by the configuration you choose.

IMPORTANT

A companion, not a glucose measurement device.

ZenSugarX does not make an iPhone or Apple Watch measure glucose. It displays and processes data received from compatible external sources. Glucose information can be delayed, unavailable, incomplete or inaccurate.

Development software. ZenSugar is not a validated medical device and must not be the sole basis for insulin dosing or emergency decisions.

Know what ZenSugarX is.

Why is it called ZenSugarX?

ZenSugar is the product family. The current application is ZenSugarX because this generation is built from the xDrip foundation. The stable ZenSugar URL structure leaves room for future application generations without breaking the current product route.

Does Follower mode require Nightscout?

Yes. Follower mode is the Nightscout path: ZenSugarX follows the configured Nightscout instance and brings those readings into its local history and Apple surfaces.

Does the Apple Watch measure glucose?

No. The Watch app and complication display state delivered by ZenSugarX; they are not glucose sensors.

Can I use ZenSugarX for treatment decisions?

ZenSugarX should not be the sole basis for insulin dosing or emergency decisions. Verify important readings using the methods recommended by your device manufacturer and healthcare team.

One timeline. Every glanceable surface.

Current development is focused on continuity, Nightscout Follower delivery, Apple Watch reliability and an App Store-ready privacy and distribution path.
